UPDATE:
This event was held at Virginia Anthony's home; she is the 2007 Liaison Chair for the Cary Debutante Ball Society. The purpose of the meeting was to assemble all of the young women together who were chosen to be debutantes.
Virginia handed out the debutante handbooks and spent a good deal of time explaining what was expected of each deb throughout the season, until the ball in December. The meeting also included get-to-know-you games and a buffet dinner.
The 20 women chosen as debs came from 4 different schools around Cary, so some of them knew each other, while others were total strangers. The atmosphere felt a lot like the first day of school: everyone was on their best behavior and trying to make a good impression. All of the debs seemed nervous, but excited about getting the swing of things.
