I've added an update to the end of the October 13th post. One of the parents who threw the costume party put together a slideshow of pictures from the event. I decided to post the link twice for convenience.
To recap: 3-5 debs get together and plan a party with their parents. The number of parties per deb season varies from year to year depending on the number of debs. This year there are four. The famous couples costume party on October 13th was the second parent sponsored party. It's called that because the parents pay for these parties out of pocket; it's not included in the $1,600 that is "how much it costs to be a Cary Debutante."
